CARDIO DANCE (formerly Dance Fitness)

Lisa combines her dance expertise and NYC edge to deliver a highly addictive cardio dance class. This class feels less like exercise and more like a ritualistic celebration of movement. Her stylized choreography is formulaic and repetitive which makes it easy to follow and find your groove. This class mixes both low- and high-intensity moves for an interval-style experience that caters to all dance levels. This class is hip-hop heavy and contains EXPLICIT music content and extreme booty shakin' that may not be suitable for everyone.

Offered Mon & Thurs at 5:45pm

& Sunday at 10am as part of our Soleful Sunday class

 This instructional class is the backbone of our Cardio Dance genre. It was designed to offer basic fundamental dance knowledge to the dance fitness community.  Learn musicality to predict changes in the music; develop proper form to protect your body from harm and utilize techniques that will help you discover your hidden potential and slay the dance floor. During this class, we value personal growth and nurture individual progress.

Offered Sunday at 10am

BARRE: STRENGTH & STRETCH

This class is designed to build strength through full-body movements & and improve flexibility through deep stretching.  This powerfully efficient class is cunningly choreographed to music and targets those deep-down muscles to deliver a productive burn. This class is low-impact. All levels and abilities are welcome. Modifications will be given.

 

Please bring a yoga mat and light weights, if desired.

DEVIANT CHAIRLESQUE (Beginner & Intermediate)

Deviant Chairlesque is a multifaceted dance experience that celebrates self-expression and embodies self-love. It's art. It's expressive, and it's unapologetic. Our chair choreography can sometimes be flirty and sassy to empower your debaucherous nature, but it can also be raw and therapeutic depending on the routine.  Deviant Chairlesque is powerful as it expands from slow, lingering movements to sharp, sensual poses. This class is a catalyst to discovering your hidden potential, channeling your alter ego & finding empowerment through movement.

Beginner Chairlesque Series - Mondays 7pm or Saturdays 11:15am

PRE-REQUISITES: WHAT WILL YOU BE CHALLENGED TO DO IN THESE CLASSES?

BOTH POLE AND LYRA REQUIRE MODERATE CORE AND UPPER BODY STRENGTH.

IN POLE YOU WILL...

  • use strength to rotate around a spinning pole

  • support yourself in various upper body and lower body holds

  • build new muscle memory over time

IN LYRA YOU WILL...

  • hang upside down from your knees & Pull up from this position

  • perform skills while suspended in midair

  • use total body strength to transition between postures

OPEN POLE & LYRA:

YOU MUST BE AN EXISTING SERIES STUDENT TO ATTEND AN OPEN CLASS. THIS IS NOT A SINGLE INSTRUCTIONAL CLASS. IT IS TIME TO PRACTICE POSTURES LEARNED IN A SERIES CLASS OR AS A MAKEUP FOR A MISSED SERIES CLASS.

POLE DANCING 

An intro to pole dance fitness! Students will learn beginner level holds, spins, climbs, and inversions. We will complete a series of short routines and choreography. The class will be physically challenging but a lot of fun, and a fantastic total body workout for all ages, body types, and athletic abilities.

 

*We now provide Intermediate Level postures and holds as part of our Pole Beginner/Intermediate Level hybrid class.

Beg/Int Pole Series

Mondays or Thursdays at 5:45pM or Saturdays or Sundays at 10am

AERIAL HOOP (LYRA)

Students will master new aerial skills on the spinning Lyra/Aerial Hoop, a classic and dynamic apparatus. We will cover foundational skills that can be used to build upon and translate to other specialty classes. Beginners will build stamina and poise as we progress through more challenging skills and choreography.  Basic skills begin with mounts, dismounts, hangs, and spins that become progressively more challenging as we learn transitions and short combinations that naturally develop along with body control, coordination, and strength.

Beginner Lyra Series

 Mondays or Thursdays at 7pm or Sundays at 11:30am

As well as our regular class offerings, we host a variety of Special Event classes and Spotlight classes. Spotlight classes give local dancers the opportunity to grow our Syracuse Arts community through instruction. These classes cover a wide range of disciplines and are taught by new & established instructors.
