How does Deviant support the arts community?

Local Artists: Deviant Productions' goal is to expand involvement and exposure to local artists and provide them an opportunity to express themselves creatively with 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional installation art, including funding to complete the work.

Performers: Deviant productions will benefit the local dance community, providing opportunities for performers to showcase their talents in a new and unique way, expanding their scope of performance art with an immersive audience.

Expanding arts in community as a whole: While this community is starting to build more arts based opportunities for the community to experience, there is a lot of room for growth. By building immersive art and dance experiences, we are involving the community by offering opportunities for them to go beyond traditional stage performances and become immersed in the performances of artists that live, work and thrive around them in their community.

Dedication to underserved communities: Art is for everyone, and Deviant Productions prioritizes accessibility and affordability. Our productions have a variety of donation-based ticket options available to meet the needs of the community. All donations enable us to pay artists and performers and create sustainable productions for the future.

Thinning of the Veil is your new favorite tradition. Since 2022, this production has become a staple as one of CNY's highly anticipated seasonal events. It is unlike anything else you've experienced. This theatrical production is the epitome of immersive art. It combines dance and 3D installation works that are sure to engulf and captivate the audience.

About the Show:

Thinning of the Veil is a guided walking tour where audience members are immersed in performance & visual art. Each audience member will be asked to wear a paper masquerade mask, a "veil", through which they will experience the show. A guide will walk the audience through each installation, where performers will meet them. The “veil” that each audience member will engage through allows them to feel disconnected from and immersed in the performance. The artistic vision is to create a space where the audience has the opportunity to view a performance in a new and unique way. This is a show for the senses. It is not intended to be scary. Instead, the feeling is eerie, beautiful, and surreal. Begin your spooky season with this spine-tingling production that will leave you feeling inspired.
